CareerAgentAI ("we," "us," "the app") helps you understand how well your background fits a job posting and draft application materials, using AI. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how you can delete it.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information: the username, email address, and password you provide when you register.
• Resume and background information: your uploaded resume file, its extracted text, and any additional background (e.g. LinkedIn profile text) you paste in.
• Job posting content: the URL and text of job postings you ask the app to analyze.
• Usage data: which AI features you use, when, and how many credits you have, so we can show you your own usage history and enforce your credit balance.
• Purchase data: when you buy credits, Apple processes your payment - we never see or store your payment card details. We receive confirmation of the purchase and the amount paid, which we use to credit your account.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information above solely to provide the app's features: extracting a structured profile from your resume, analyzing job postings, scoring your fit against them, and generating cover letters. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

3. Third Parties We Share Data With

• OpenAI: your resume text, background text, and job posting text are sent to OpenAI's API to perform the AI analysis that powers the app. OpenAI processes this data to generate a response but does not use it to train their models on our plan tier.
• Apple: handles all in-app purchases; we never receive your payment card information.
• Hosting and storage providers: our backend and your resume file are hosted with infrastructure providers (Render for the application server and database, Cloudflare for file storage), who store this data on our behalf under their own security and confidentiality commitments.

We do not share your data with any other third party, and never sell it.

4. Data Retention

We keep your data for as long as your account is active, so the app can show your history and re-use your profile without asking you to re-upload it every time. Job posting content is cached for up to 7 days to avoid re-analyzing the same posting repeatedly, and is not tied to your identity once cached.

5. Your Rights and Account Deletion

You can permanently delete your account and all associated data - your profile, resume file, analysis history, and usage records - at any time from within the app (Profile → Delete Account). This action is immediate and cannot be undone. If you'd rather not use the in-app option, email us at the address below and we'll delete it for you.

6. Data Security

Your resume file is stored privately and is never publicly accessible. All communication between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS). Access to production data is limited to what's needed to operate the service.

7. Children's Privacy

CareerAgentAI is not directed at children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

8. Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
